Keep it safe

A 6551 account is a real wallet. Three things matter: approvals, the lock, and the chain.

Approvals

An approval lets another address take tokens out of the wallet.

An approval stays after a sale. A lock does not stop it.

Before you sell, clear all approvals. Before you buy, check that there are none.

The lock

The owner can lock the wallet until a date. While locked, the owner cannot take anything out.

An open approval still works while locked. That is why you clear approvals before you lock.

Nobody can end a lock early. Lock only to sell.

To sell

  1. Clear approvals.
  2. Lock the wallet for 1 to 7 days.
  3. List it. Make the listing end before the lock ends.

When anyone other than the owner moves the NFT (a marketplace, or any address with an approval), the contract checks three things: the wallet is locked now, the lock ends within 7 days, and the wallet has no open Permit2 allowance for PNL. If one fails, the move is refused.

A gift, or a send to your own agent, needs no lock.

What a lock does not stop. While locked, the owner's key still signs for the wallet. So for a token in the wallet that accepts signed permits, the seller can create a new approval during the lock and use it after the sale. An order the wallet itself signed on a marketplace can still run too. Check the tokens in the wallet.

To buy

  • Check that the wallet is locked, and that the listing ends before the lock.
  • Check that there are no open approvals, with a full check.
  • Check what the wallet holds. Tokens that accept signed permits can still be moved by the seller, as above.
  • You get the NFT and its wallet. You do not get the seller's agent, its memory or its skills.

The chain

  • Send things to a 6551 account on chain 4663 only. On any other chain they are lost.
  • Nobody can recover a lost key. Not us, not anyone.
  • Tokens you did not expect may arrive. Do not touch tokens you do not know.

Risks

  • Code can have bugs. The contracts cannot be changed after the deploy.
  • Outside parties. The agent registry, the account design and the chain itself are run by others. They could change or stop.
  • The picture files live on IPFS and Arweave. Their fingerprints are on the chain, and the face can always be drawn again from the chain.
  • The face record is written once by one project address after the reveal. A wrong record cannot be changed, but anyone can check it.
  • An agent can make mistakes. You choose what your agent may do. By default, POLYROB asks you before it moves money.
  • Value. A 6551 account NFT and everything in its wallet can lose all value. Read the Disclaimer.
